Instructions for Saving and Sharing the New 2014-2015 PLT Template

  1. Start by using the Chrome browser.  Google plays best with Chrome! It doesn’t always work well in Explorer.

  1. In the upper right hand corner, click Sign In
  2. If you see someone else’s name, or your personal gmail account listed there instead of the Sign In button, Click that name and choose Sign Out.
    1. If you have used your computer to sign in to google.com previously, it may remember you. If so, just enter your password.
    2. If you see a list of names, and yours is not there, Click Add Account
    3. Otherwise, just enter your username@wcpss.net (i.e. ksiegert@wcpss.net)

  1. Uncheck the Stay Signed In button. (That way if someone comes to use your computer, they cannot get to your google drive, etc)

  1. Your password is the same as your email password.

  1. You will get a (new) window that says Wake County Public School System

  1. Enter your username without the @wcpss.net (i.e. ksiegert)

  1. Again, your password is the same as your email password.

  1. Click Login
  2. Click on the Apps icon in the upper right hand corner and choose Drive
  3. You should have received an email from Amy Hendrickson where she shared the Template for PLTs with you. Click the link in that email now, if you have not done so already.
    1. If you had already clicked on the link to the shared document, click Shared with Me on the left.
  4. Once you have the file open, Click File
  5. Click Make a Copy
  6. Click File -> Make a Copy
  7. In the Pop Up window, rename this file: Your Grade PLT Template (i.e. 1st Grade PLT Template) NOTE: This will be the file you copy EACH month. Do NOT write in it.
  8. Now, Click File--Make A Copy (again)
  9. In this Pop Up Window, rename this file: Your Grade PLT Date (i.e. 1st Grade PLT 9.4.2014)
  10. You may enter your notes here
  11. When finished, click the Share button in the upper right hand corner.
  12. Enter Rene Herrick’s and Amy Hendrickson’s name in the Invite People Box
  13. Click Done
  14. Remember- No need to “save” in google docs. It saves for you every few seconds.

Note: For the 2nd meeting, you will log in to google, go to drive and click on your PLT Template file. Then follow steps 17-22.

How to Scan on the Workroom Copiers

This does *not* use your copies....and it saves trees ☺

  • At the copier, enter your number
  • Put your flash drive in (on the right side of the machine)
  • Put your original(s) in the feeder tray or on the glass
  • Press the scan button (under copy and print- to the right of the screen)
  • On the screen, press USB
  • You can press next to Filename and change the name of the file
  • The file type is PDF. You can change this if you’d like.
  • Press Scan
  • Do NOT remove your flash drive until it says “USB may be removed” on the bottom of the screen.

Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog!

We will be posting lots of great information here!
Some of it will be simple "How To" instructions, some of it will be great teaching resources and some of it might just be for fun. Like, have you ever googled "do a barrel roll"?

Look to the right and type in your email address where it says "Follow by Email" and whenever there is an update, you'll get an email. The great thing about a blog is that it is "searchable" so you can come back and find something you saw earlier.

Enjoy!!
